The Lyceum

Monday Night Book Club: Fall Session

Love it or hate it, we want to talk about it!

Join our Monday night virtual book club as we read through group selected novels (everybody signed up at the beginning of a session gets a vote!) to discuss the good, the bad, and everything in between. Our primary goal as a group is to have fun and foster a love of reading, but we will also be working on important literary analysis skills and effective discussion techniques. Ages 10-18 are welcome, but the novels selected will generally be within 5th-9th grade reading level. Whether you're looking for your next favorite book, want to sharpen your speaking and listening skills, or just love to spend time with fellow literature-lovers, this is the class for you!

Meetings are held via Google Meet on Mondays from 5:00-5:45 EST. Our Fall Session will run from October 28th-December 16th with a total of 8 meetings. Included in your subscription to each session is access to our Google Classroom which contains audio and text version of the novel as well as other supplementary materials and activities. As a thank you for your business, a coupon code for $20 off your next purchase at Sage & Story is included with your enrollment!

Young Writer's Program 2024

"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you."

--Maya Angelou

Do you dream of writing a novel? Do you find yourself looking at the books on your shelves and thinking "I wish I could do that"? Do you have a story to tell, but you're just not sure where to start? This is the class for you! Using NaNoWriMo's Young Writer's Program, our program will guide participants through National Novel Writing Month with the goal of completing a draft of a novel in a month.

While this goal may be equal parts terrifying and exciting, writer's enrolled in our program will have support and motivation throughout the month of November. We will meet weekly as a group on Wednesday evenings to share progress, troubleshoot issues, and build skills for the next week of writing. Participants will also have access to a Google Classroom filled with resources and encouragement. They will also be added to a NaNoWriMo Young Writer's classroom, where they can track their word count and access even more helpful resources! Most importantly, we will come together as a community of writers, supporting one another as we seek to grow and develop our craft.

Bring your ideas, your courage, and your creativity, and join us on our Novel Writing journey!
